The Sydney Spirit have confirmed the signing of American sharpshooter Derrick Low as its second import player for the upcoming 2008/09 NBL season.
Low played for Washington State University in the prestigious Pac-10 conference, where he was named an All-Star after breaking the single-season record for most thee-point field goals made.
Coach Rob Beveridge is looking forward to what the six foot one inch point-guard can bring to his team.
"Low's work ethic and three-point shooting is just the injection to complement our style," Beveridge said.
"His never-say-die attitude is what the fans have come to expect of our team in the last 12 months."
'Mr Basketball' as he is known in his native Hawaii was ecstatic to join the Spirit.
"I am looking forward to travelling to Australia and playing in a league that is of a high quality," Low said.
"I have heard nothing but good things about the Australian NBL and thoroughly enjoyed my time there when touring with Washington State in 2007. I can't wait to hit the court with the Spirit."
Having completed its two import signings, Sydney are now looking forward to its pre-season matches and bringing Low to Australia as soon as possible to give him ample time to adjust to his new environment.
