Gary Ablett, Matthew Pavlich and Nick Riewoldt have taken out the inaugural Sportal AFL Player of the Year award.
Pavlich did not play the final two games of the year, allowing Ablett and Riewoldt to both draw level on 21 votes in the final round by polling the one and three votes respectively.
The trio were one clear of North Melbourne star Brent Harvey and Coleman Medal winner Lance Franklin on 20, with another vote to Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Cooney and gun Geelong youngster Joel Selwood on 19.
While bookmakers have Ablett a $2.30 favourite for the Brownlow, narrowly ahead of last year's winner and Harvey, Sportal's award, which follows the 3-2-1 system, suggests it may be more than a three-way race for the game's highest individual honour.
Riewoldt was rated a $12 chance on Friday while Pavlich represents extremely good value at $51.
While Riewoldt and Ablett both played in teams which finished in the top four, Pavlich's Fremantle finished 14th with only six wins.
Not surprisingly, Geelong, with 116 of a possible 132 votes, polled more votes from Sportal's AFL writers than any other team. Next best was Hawthorn (92) and the Western Bulldogs (85).
Cellar-dwellers Melbourne and West Coast managed only 24 votes after winning only seven games between them.
