Power v Crows - snippets
TURNING POINT: For the first time this season the Power were able absorb the pressure of an opposition on the march. The Crows scored two goals in the first four minutes of the final quarter to draw to within nine points of the Power. Port responded with the next three majors to take the sting out of Adelaide's challenge.
CLASSIC GRAB: In the third quarter Brett Ebert beat Graham Johncock and Nathan Bassett to take a strong mark about 45 metres from goal. Importantly the small forward finished off his hard work with a major after the siren to give the Power a handy break.
STAR MAN: Danyle Pearce won the Showdown Medal for his 24-possession game. The onballer, who was dropped earlier this season, provided plenty of dash through the midfield and showed he's willing to fight for the contested ball.
ABSOLUTE SHOCKER: Nathan Lonie was deprived a third-quarter major thanks to a poor umpiring decision. Television replays showed his 50-metre kick had cleared the goal line before Kris Massie marked the ball. Power supporters were angry with the decision and would've been in the mood for rioting if they'd lost by a small margin.
WHAT A GOAL! The build-up and the importance of Justin Westhoff's fourth quarter major made it the goal of the game. Westhoff marked a ball at centre half forward, passed it to Daniel Motlop, ran past for the handball and then evaded Graham Johncock to kick truly from 10 metres out. His score halted a Crows' run and gave his side some breathing space.
UNSUNG HERO: Kane Cornes tagged the dangerous Andrew McLeod out of the contest. McLeod was confined to just 11 touches, most of which were ineffectual, while Cornes had 23 disposals.
