Police rushed to Singh's Chandigarh house on Monday morning and had to pacify the shattered fans who were venting their frustration.

Out-of-form Singh scored a 21-ball 11 which shifted the momentum in Sri Lanka's favour.

India could make only 130 runs, a total that proved not enough to defend and the island nation went on to claim a second T20 crown with 13 balls to spare.

Earlier, Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj came out in defence of his son, saying the left-hander tried his best.

"Yuvraj should not be singled out," Yograj said.
