Warriors, Bulls down to business

Western Australia and Queensland meet in the Ryobi One-Day Cup at the WACA Ground in a match which is vital to both their chances of making the final.

The Bulls have just one win from their six games so far this season and would have to win each of their remaining games to have a realistic shot of making the final, while WA have two wins from their five games and are five points outside the top two.

The Warriors suffered a heartbreaking seven-run loss at home to New South Wales a week ago to dent their chances of qualifying for the final, which WA coach Mickey Arthur said made this match a 'must win' encounter for his side.

"If we're going to have any chance of making the final in this competition we've got to win. There are no second opportunities for us anymore," said Arthur.

"I've got faith in our whole squad ... but guys need to start performing now and putting their hand up for next season."

Discarded Test bowler Mitchell Johnson wasn't named in WA's squad and Arthur said it was unlikely he'd play.

David Bandy has been named for his first one-day game in over a year, while Arthur said 20-year-old batsman Tom Beaton, who was part of Australia's squad for the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year, would make his debut.

"He (Beaton) is going to be part of our future and he's definitely deserving of his place. He's done very well for the under-23s and I'm looking forward to seeing him play," Arthur said.

Mitch Marsh's ankle injury forced him out of their side, but Michael Hogan has overcome the injury that kept him out of this week's Sheffield Shield match against NSW and will play.

Queensland lost to Victoria by four runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method last week, a defeat which left them languishing on the bottom of the table, but they bring a strong side to Perth for this game.

Nineteen-year-old fast bowler Alister McDermott returns to their side for the first time this season, joining a pace attack which already included the likes of Ben Cutting, Nathan Rimmington, Chris Swan and all-rounder James Hopes.

Australian limited-overs player Hopes returns to their side, as does Luke Feldman. Ryan Harris was forced out after he was called up to the national Test squad and youngster Jason Floros also dropped out.
