Third ODI abandoned

India have clinched a 1-0 one-day series victory over Australia after the third and final limited-overs match was abandoned on Sunday.

Heavy rain on the eve of the final ODI in Margao soaked the ground, and while the weather improved on Sunday morning the outfield was too wet for play to commence at the scheduled time.

Match referee Chris Broad inspected the ground three times during a three-hour delay before deciding to call the match off entirely.

The first ODI in Kochi was washed out in similar circumstances, while India eased to a five-wicket victory in the second.

The abandoned match marks the first time since 1979-80 that Australia have toured India without winning a single game, including tour matches.

The visitors also lost 2-0 in a two-Test series against India.
