Michael Clarke's woes, Chris Roger-ed and fantastic Finn

Clarke

Steven Finn went from unselectable to unplayable in a thrilling second day of the third Ashes Test, as England look set for a 2-1 series lead.

Finn took 5-45, reducing Australia to 168-7 in their second innings at the close of play - a lead of just 23 runs.

David Warner's aggressive 77 from 62 deliveries just about kept the tourists' heads above water, but salvaging a result seems beyond them.

Here is a summary of stats from day two, provided by Opta:

- In only 3 previous Test matches has Michael Clarke scored fewer runs across two innings, than in this 3rd Ashes Test (13).
- David Warner has recorded 50+ runs in the third innings of the match in nine of his last 12 attempts (five centuries).
- Moeen Ali had the highest play and miss rate (23%) and outside edge rate (11%) of any batsman to face 20 balls in the first two innings of the match.
- Mitchell Johnson went past the 300 Test wickets landmark today, in what was his 69th Test match, only two Australians have reached the landmark quicker (McGrath and Warne).
- Chris Rogers failed to reach double figures for the first time in 13 Test innings.
- Steven Finn has seven wickets already in this match, his best return in five Ashes matches and his joint third most in any Test match. He needs three more to reach 100.
- Stuart Broad is now on 299 Test wickets, one more and he will become the fifth player to take 300 Test wickets for England.
