Tasmania skittle WA

Tasmania's decision to bowl first in their Sheffield Shield clash against Western Australia has reaped huge rewards with the Tigers skittling the Warriors for just 108 in the morning session at Bellerive Oval.

James Faulkner was the chief destroyer with three wickets and a run out. Luke Butterworth also claimed three scalps and Adam Maher chimed in with two.

Only a late partnership of 48 - the highest of the innings - by Ryan Duffield (29) and Michael Hogan (16 not out) saved the visitors from total humiliation.

The Warriors comfortably reached 33 before Wes Robinson (9) was the first wicket to fall after Faulkner threw down the stumps following a terrible mix-up between Robinson and fellow opener Liam Davis.

Davis (20) didn't last much longer, caught by wicketkeeper Brady Jones after top-edging an attempted pull shot off a Faulkner bouncer.

Marcus North's poor form continued with the dumped Test batsman making just two before he was trapped in front by Faulkner and the Tigers all-rounder made it two wickets in two balls when Adam Voges edged one through to Jones.

After losing four wickets for just five runs, things got worse for the Warriors when Jones held on to his third catch of the morning to remove David Bandy (3) off the bowling of Maher.

First drop Shaun Marsh had watched on as the wickets tumbled around him, but soon joined his team-mates back in the pavilion when he found Brendan Drew at point to give Maher his second wicket.

Butterworth then got amongst the wickets with three in the space of two overs. Luke Ronchi (10) and Brett Dorey (0) were clean bowled before Test squad member Michael Beer edged one through to Travis Birt at second slip.

At 9-62, the Tigers would have banked on wrapping up things quickly but Duffield and Hogan had other ideas with the duo smashing six boundaries between them.

Discarded Test spinner Xavier Doherty finally claimed the final wicket of the innings when Duffield went for one big shot too many and was clean bowled.
