Steyn blows Windies away

Having been second best for the first three days at Centurion, the tourists began day four on 76-2 in their second innings, requiring a further 275 runs to make South Africa bat again.

However, they were unable to even make it through to lunch as Steyn - who now boasts 25 Test five-wicket hauls - tore through their line-up in devastating fashion.

With their pace spearhead leading the way, South Africa required just 15.2 overs on Saturday to dismiss West Indies for 131 and highlight the gulf between the two sides.

West Indies now face the challenge of bouncing back in the Boxing Day Test at Durban, knowing another defeat will end their hopes of taking anything from the three-Test series.

Leon Johnson (39) and Marlon Samuels (17) added 11 runs to the tourists' overnight total before Steyn set a startling collapse in motion by having the former caught behind by AB de Villiers.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul (4), so often the man to provide the greatest resistance for West Indies, gloved a short ball through to De Villiers in Steyn's next over.

Yet the world's number-one ranked bowler was far from finished and claimed two further scalps in his next set of six.

Samuels was caught at cover via a leading edge, having been surprised by a delivery that reared up from a fuller length, and De Villiers pulled off a superb catch in front of first slip to send Denesh Ramdin back for four two balls later.

Morne Morkel had Jermaine Blackwood caught at short-leg as the wickets kept on coming, before Steyn returned to centre stage by accounting for Jerome Taylor and Sheldon Cottrell.

The departure of the latter brought proceedings to an end, with the injured Kemar Roach unable to bat.
