South Africa unchanged for Zimbabwe trip

Monday saw South Africa return to the top of the Test rankings after their first series win in Sri Lanka for 21 years.

Hashim Amla's side batted defiantly in Colombo to frustrate the Sri Lanka bowlers and claim the draw they needed to ensure a series triumph, having already won the first Test in Galle.

Cricket South Africa's (CSA) selectors are now looking for consistency to ensure they remain the best side in the long format of the game, with their match in Harare starting on August 9 the next challenge.

The five-day contest is the only one against their African neighbours before a three-match one-day series and a triangular 50-over tournament also including Australia.

"The Proteas have earned a vote of confidence," said CSA selection convener Andrew Hudson. "We will be naming the ODI squad for the three-match series against Zimbabwe next week and will give consideration to resting a couple of players.

"We will, however, be sending our full-strength ODI squad for the following triangular series against Zimbabwe and Australia."

South Africa have never lost to Zimbabwe in a Test match, winning six of their seven meetings, although they have not faced each other since 2005.
