Sixers sign first ever Chinese player

Ming Li

Hong Kong-born leg spinner Ming Li will link with the Sydney Sixers for the upcoming Big Bash season, joining the club under the Australian rookie program.

The 24-year-old has been playing cricket since 2004 and represented Hong Kong at the 2012 World Cup qualifiers, becoming the first Chinaman to play at T20 level.

He first became interested in cricket after coming across Warne’s bowling on the internet.

“I intend to make the best of this rare opportunity. My aim is to be one of the leading cricketers for Hong Kong and I look forward to the challenges this experience will provide, which I know will go a long way in helping me achieve my cricketing goals,” Li said.

“Playing in this competition and being involved with such a professional outfit will really help improve my cricketing skills, knowledge and experience.”
