Pune Warriors captain Yuvraj Singh has sang the praises of Shane Warne after he bowed out of professional cricket on Friday.

Warne claimed 1-30 in four overs in his swansong as his Rajasthan Royals side finished their Indian Premier League season on a high note, beating the Mumbai Indians by 10 wickets.

Warne retired from Test cricket for Australia in 2007 but managed to play in four seasons of the IPL, leading the Royals to the inaugural crown in 2008 before he became captain-coach of the franchise.

And as the tributes to Warne flowed, India all-rounder Singh added his thoughts on the leg-spinner's retirement.

"I think Shane Warne as we all know is a legend of the game," Singh said.

"He's the greatest spinner I have known, with Muttiah Muralitharan."

Warne, despite never serving as a permanent captain of any Australian side, was praised for his leadership in the IPL by Singh.

"He's someone who is also great captain, who never got the opportunity to captain Australia but showed how good he is as a captain in the IPL. Every time I met him there was a lot of learning from him," he said.

"He's a man who's always helping all the boys from all the franchises. Anybody goes up to him he talks to them, he's always there for a chat. He's been a great motivator, so I salute his career and his performances."
