Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting hopes his Indian Premier League (IPL) success can eventually lead to an international coaching job.
Rookie coach Ponting steered the Mumbai Indians to their second IPL title on Sunday, as they defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs.
Ponting's former Test team-mates Jason Gillespie and Justin Langer have been heavily linked with England's vacant job, and Darren Lehmann is in charge of Australia - proving the Ponting captaincy era to be a breeding ground for coaches.
"You never say never as far as these big jobs are concerned," Ponting said.
"If the team starts winning a few IPLs, people might start thinking of me as an international coach."
Ponting, Gillespie, Langer and Lehmann all played a part in the Australia side that did not lose a Test series from the 2001 tour of England to the 2004-05 series against New Zealand, winning 13 of 14.
Gillespie is expected to be announced as England's new coach after confirming he will speak with ECB director of cricket Andrew Strauss, while Langer was linked with both that job and India's head coaching role before extending his contract with Western Australia earlier in May.
Lehmann was installed as Australia's coach in June 2013, with the team winning three of five series during his tenure.
Having ended his playing career in 2013, Ponting claimed he jumped at the chance to take over at Mumbai and has clearly been bitten by the coaching bug.
"Because I was on the road and playing for 20-odd years, just to have that all stop and have no competitiveness in my life was a little bit hard to deal with," he said.
"I love the game and I love working with younger blokes. To come here and have the opportunity to work with some of the young boys... you see the joy in their faces today and that's what it's all about."
