Ramdin rues costly morning session

West Indies captain Denesh Ramdin bemoaned his side's batting woes on the final day of the second Test in Grenada, which allowed England to take a 1-0 series lead courtesy of a nine-wicket win.

Ramdin's side resumed on 202-2 on Saturday, but some inspired bowling and fielding from James Anderson (4-43) saw them reach lunch in tatters on 286-8.

They soon fell to 307 all out after the interval, and Alastair Cook and Gary Ballance knocked off the 143 required for victory with relative ease, finishing on 59 and 81 respectively.

"We fought hard for four days, but that one session cost us the Test," Ramdin said in the post-match presentation.

"That spell from James Anderson took it away from us.

"[Kraigg] Brathwaite batted well and it would have been nice if he could have carried on.

"It's hard to take, but well done to England, they stuck at it and executed their plans.

"They had some conditions in their favour on the first day, then the pitch got better."
