NSW-Sri Lanka called off

The 50-over tour match between NSW and Sri Lanka has been abandoned due to sodden conditions in Sydney.

Persistent rain throughout the day has meant no play at all was possible at the SCG.

With no sign of a break in the weather, the two skippers Stephen O'Keefe and Kumar Sangakkara agreed to call the game off just before 5.30pm.

The two sides will meet again in a Twenty20 match at Blacktown on Wednesday night.

The washout means the Sri Lankans will have just one 50-over match under their belt ahead of their three-game series with Australia next month.

But it was an impressive hit out, a comprehensive 112-run win over Queensland at the Gabba on Friday night.

Leading Sri Lankan players Mahela Jayawardene, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Lasith Malinga, and Muttiah Muralidaran were all rested for that game and have only Wednesday's T20 clash as a lead in to the one-day series.

The Blues were using the tour match to blood a couple of new faces, but the rain means batsman Tim Cruickshank and spinner Adam Zampa will have to wait a little longer to make their first-class debuts.
