Narine targets Bangladesh whitewash

Sunil Narine

Bangladesh capitulated in Grenada to slump to their heaviest defeat against the West Indies in the 50-over format of the game, losing by a mammoth margin of 177 runs.

The tourists collapsed from 42-2 to 70 all out in reply to 247-7 as Dwayne Bravo's men took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Given the nature of Bangladesh's hammering at St George's, it would be a surprise if they are able to regroup and secure a consolation victory in St Kitts on Monday.

Windies captain Bravo had urged his frontline batsmen to produce the goods ahead of the second match of the series and Chris Gayle (58), Darren Bravo (53) and Lendl Simmons (40) were all in the runs.

Paceman Kemar Roach then took 3-19 as Bangladesh were skittled out for their third lowest total in an ODI, but it was Narine who was man of the match after he claimed figures of 3-13 off seven overs.

And the spinner will show no mercy on the tourists in the third and final contest as the hosts look to take momentum into the one-off Twenty20 and the two-match Test series.

"We are happy that we won the series but I think we have to take the last as serious as the first game and try to win a series without losing a game," said Narine.

"We would love to start back on the winning note as we are doing here now. We just need to build on this momentum. Try to win couple more games and win more series."

Narine does not expect Bangladesh to struggle with the bat again at Warner Park, but is eager to pile more misery on Mushfiqur Rahim's side - who are yet to win an ODI this year.

"St Kitts is a different track. I think it is a more paradise for Bangladesh," he added.

"I think it’s is going to be a high scoring game so I think we need to go out there and back ourselves. It is a venue we are accustomed to and hopefully we can continue doing good."
