A 95-run defeat against India on Monday saw England fall 1-0 behind in their five-match series and once again exposed their fragility to pace bowling.
Six wickets fell for the loss of 50 runs on day five of the second Test at Lord's as Ishant Sharma (7-74) became the latest fast bowler to rip through England's tail.
Questions had already been asked about England's approach on the first day when they failed to take advantage of a green wicket, so their collapse only added to the problems Moores has to resolve.
They also include the form of captain Alastair Cook, who currently averages 12.33 with the bat in this series and has not scored more than 28 since a half-century against Australia in Melbourne on Boxing Day.
Moores insists the squad and coaching staff will work together to right the wrongs and hopes for an improvement in the third Test at Southampton.
"It was a tough Test match for us, got a pitch was good but didn't bowl well enough, we didn't manage to cash in," he told Sky Sports.
"We have got to look hard at the performance, there are areas to get better, our job is to be brutally honest, we didn't get ball in the right area enough.
"We are not going to hide, we need to look where can get better and move on.
"It is a tough situation."
