The former captain and wicketkeeper was appointed as national coach on February 11 in what has been a turbulent few months for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

They have been without a full-time head of the selection committee for the past 10 months, with Khan's appointment made in a bid to bring a sense of stability to the organisation.

An interim panel has been in place in recent times, although Rashid Latif was announced as the new chief selector back in February.

Earlier this month, however, Latif announced he had decided against taking up the role, leaving the PCB in an awkward position.

Former Test batsman Zaheer Abbas, meanwhile, has been appointed as principal advisor to CB chairman Najam Sethi, who took over from Zaka Ashraf in February.
