Clarke: Harris likely to miss first Test

Australia paceman Ryan Harris is "struggling" to be fit for the first Ashes against England, captain Michael Clarke said.

Harris, 35, is battling right knee soreness, which saw him ruled out of Australia's warm-up match against Essex.

And Clarke is ready to accept playing the first Test in Cardiff starting Wednesday without the veteran bowler, and he is unsure when to expect him back.

"I think he's struggling," Clarke said.

"Without him playing this tour game I don't think he's got enough match practice under his belt to warrant playing that first Test.

"I think he would probably say that.

"We'll find out more tomorrow where he sits, but my goal is to give Ryan every opportunity."

Clarke added: "What Test match [of the Ashes], who knows?"
