The 27-year-old batsman, who has played in 18 one-day internationals and 14 Twenty20s for Pakistan, was injured playing for his country's 'A' team last month.

Subsequent tests have confirmed a fracture to one of Maqsood's wrists, together with ligament damage.

Pakistan are currently in Test action against New Zealand, but are scheduled to play two T20s and five ODIs against the same opposition in December.

A Pakistan Cricket Board statement, quoted by ESPNCricinfo, read: "Sohaib Maqsood has been advised three weeks of relative rest after diagnostic investigations confirmed the initial suspicion of wrist bone fracture and a small tear in one of the ligaments of [his] wrist.

"Sohaib injured his wrist while playing for Pakistan 'A' against UAE last month. This injury will put him out of contention for selection in the T20I and ODI series against New Zealand."
