Kamal announces resignation as ICC president

Mustafa Kamal has announced his resignation as president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) following a public falling-out with the governing body.

Kamal appeared to question the integrity of match officials following a decision involving Rohit Sharma during Bangladesh's Cricket World Cup quarter-final defeat to India.

He then expressed outrage at the decision not to let him present the World Cup trophy after Australia's victory in Sunday's final.

In his latest outburst, Kamal threatened to reveal "mischievous" goings-on within the ICC and, at a press conference on Wednesday, he once again criticised the organisation.

"The main reason for my resignation is that I can't work with those who can act unconstitutionally and unlawfully," Kamal is widely quoted as telling reporters.

"I am just sending my resignation to the ICC... I was not allowed to work in line with the ICC constitution and I cannot work with them beyond the ICC constitution.

"These type of people should be away from cricket, these kind of people are polluting the game. Otherwise cricket will be spoilt. It is my earnest request to the ICC to revisit these things and people should research why I have resigned."

When contacted by Perform, the ICC refused to confirm or deny Kamal's resignation.
