India players and Tendulkar pay tribute after death of young cricketer

Following the death of a promising young cricketer in India, legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar has offered his condolences to the family of the 20-year-old.

Ankit Keshri collided with a team-mate on the field during a Bengal senior one-day match on Friday, and on Monday passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.

"Saddened by the demise of Ankit Keshri. A promising career aborted by an unfortunate incident on field," Tendulkar tweeted.

"May God give strength to Ankit's family and friends to cope with this loss #RIP."

The India Cricket Board also took to Twitter to pay their tribute, while other high-profile India players expressed their own messages of support.

"Ankit Keshri just 20!! Too young to go. Life can be so cruel sometimes. May God gives strength to his family and friends. RIP," said Vinay Kumar, while Ajinkya Rahane said: "Very sad to know about Ankit Keshri. Strength to his family and friends. #RIP."

Manoj Tiwary, who also hails from Bengal, tweeted: "I'm shocked 2 hear d news of Under-19 player from bengal named Ankit Keshri's demise due 2 heart attack.

"My deepest condolences goes out 2 Ankit Keshri's family nd frnds. A promising player who scored loads of runs at under 19 level nd he wud hav surely played 4 senior bengal in 2 years time.

"Rest in peace young brother!!!"
