Hastings returns for Vics

All-rounder John Hastings returns to the Bushrangers line-up for Saturday's Ryobi Cup clash with the in-form Redbacks at Skilled Stadium in Geelong.

Hastings, who missed last week's day-night victory over Queensland with a leg injury, is one of two changes to the Bushrangers squad.

He and Glenn Maxwell replace Mark Cleary and Will Sheridan.

Young pace bowler James Pattinson, who was 13th man against the Bulls, is a likely starter after recovering from a back injury that kept him sidelined for more than a month.

While Bushrangers bat Aaron Finch, who hails from Geelong, is pleased to be playing at 'home', the setting will be new to most of his team-mates.

"It's going to be quite unfamiliar with a new wicket, a new ground, new surrounds and stuff," said Finch.

"I suppose we're a bit out of our comfort zone at the MCG, but we've been good away from home for a little while in one-day cricket especially so it will be a great win if we can get it down there."

The 24-year-old said the mood amongst the Bushrangers remains upbeat despite their indifferent form in the Sheffield Shield where they've failed to take a point from their past three matches.

"We're still a confident group," he said.

"We know we haven't been at our best in four-day cricket but our one-day performances have been pretty good."

"We know what we're good at, we know how we can play as a team and when you've got guys like (David) Hussey, (Brad) Hodge, (Cameron) White and then guys like (Dirk) Nannes and (Shane) Harwood with the ball it's a pretty formidable side."

"I think that (the Redbacks) would be fearing us a little bit more (than we fear them)."

Coming off his highest one-day score of the season, 84 from 93 balls-faced against the Bulls, Finch is looking forward to more of the same on Saturday.

"In the one-day form I feel like I'm hitting them quite well ... I just can't quite get that big score in the four-dayers."

"A really big score in the one-dayers would be nice instead of just getting 40s and 80s, that's the next step and down in Geelong would be no better place to do it."

There's been plenty of rain in and around Geelong during the week and there's more to come with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms forecast for match day.

The Bushrangers are sitting second on the Ryobi One-day Cup table, with three wins from five matches only five points behind competition leaders Tasmania.

Bottom of the ladder South Australia recorded an upset win over the Tigers at Bellerive Oval on Wednesday night.
