Eoin Morgan is confident his in-form England side can complete a remarkable fightback by beating Australia at Old Trafford on Sunday to clinch the one-day international series.

World champions Australia looked to be heading for a comfortable series victory when they won the first two games of the five-match series at the Rose Bowl and Lord's.

But England gave themselves hope with a resounding 93-run victory at Old Trafford on Tuesday and then followed that by winning a thriller at Headingley on Friday to set up a decider in Manchester.

Morgan made 92 from as many balls as England claimed a three-wicket win in Leeds with 10 balls to spare after Australia had posted 299-7.

Having beaten New Zealand 3-2 in their previous ODI series, England captain Morgan is backing the hosts to inflict more pain on Australia at the end of a tour in which they lost the Ashes and were also beaten in a one-off Twenty20.

Morgan said: "If it [momentum] does exist I think it is with us. We managed to steal a little bit while we were in Manchester, confidence is a little bit of contributor to that.

"We're really looking forward to it. Sitting here two-all and having beaten New Zealand 3-2, we're pretty confident."

Steve Smith knows Australia must raise their game if they are to avoid a series defeat which looked so unlikely following their triumph at Lord's.

"It's a final now, both teams have to turn up and play and we'll be up for the challenge," said the Australia captain.

"The boys have to pick themselves up and make sure they are ready to go.

"We'll have to play their spinners better. We've just got to be a little more watchful and make sure we have wickets in the shed for the late onslaught."

England must decide whether to recall Steven Finn or stick with Mark Wood, who was given his chance when the Middlesex paceman was rested at Headingley.

Mitchell Starc could return to the Australia attack after he sat out the defeat in Leeds following a poor display with the ball in third ODI.

Spinner Ashton Agar could get another chance after he was also omitted at Headingley despite an encouraging ODI debut at Old Trafford.
