Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram escaped injury after being caught up in a road-rage incident in which shots were fired on Wednesday.

Akram is reported to have been on his way to a training camp in Karachi when he was involved in a road traffic collision.

"A car hit mine, I stopped him and then his guy stepped out and fired at my car," he is quoted as telling Pakistan's Express News channel.

"He was definitely an official, I have noted the number of the car and given it to the police."

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Akram's manager Arsalan Hyder added: "Wasim was driving himself, and the car next to him tried to jam his car to one side and opened fire.

"He did not get hit, he is now at the National Stadium, dealing with police formalities."
