Michael Hussey and Albie Morkel starred as the Chennai Super Kings defeated the Pune Warriors by 25 runs in the Indian Premier League.

Australian Hussey made 61 alongside Murali Vijay (31) at the top of the order for Chennai on Monday.

India captain MS Dhoni added 26 and Subramaniam Badrinath 11 as the hosts posted 6-142 from their 20 overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. South African Morkel, together with Doug Bollinger and Ravichandran Ashwin, built on the good work done by their colleagues with the bat.

Morkel took three wickets, while Australian Bollinger and Ashwin had two apiece, as Pune fell well short in their run chase.

Yuvraj Singh top scored with 34, while Mithun Manhas was the next best with just 20.

The last three wickets fell in the space of two overs and at a cost of just four runs as Pune finished up 9-117.

Jamaican Jerome Taylor was the leading wicket-taker for Pune, but he was expensive at 3-30.

Chennai's third victory from six matches takes them to fourth in the IPL table.

Pune are ninth with two wins from five matches played.
