Big Bash League Preview: Melbourne Renegades v Brisbane Heat

Joe Burns

What: Big Bash League
Who: Renegades v Heat
When: Tuesday, January 13 – 7.40pm (AEDT)
Where: Etihad Stadium
I Can Watch It On: Channel 10

Form Guide:

Renegades: LWLWLL

Heat: LLLWLWL

20-20 Vision:

While the Heat's season is over, the Renegades, who have four points from six games, need to win both their remaining matches and hope that they can edge through to the semi-finals on the basis of their net run-rate.

Gades skipper Aaron Finch has joined up with the Australian one-day side and is unavailable for the rest of the tournament.

That means there is a vacancy at the top of the order, with Alex Doolan and Matt Short seemingly the two contenders after being named in the 13-man squad.

The Heat welcome back Joe Burns who comes in for Nathan Reardon who is out with a knee injury. Let's hope Burns can latch onto a few, as he did against India at the SCG.

Reason To Watch:

Thanks goodness the Docklands stadium has a roof! It's been rainy all day in Melbourne, but unlike in Adelaide on Monday night, there's zero chance of a rain delay.

Reason To Turn Away:

If you enjoy watching sporting disasters unfold, then have a night off from the Big Bash... Flicking the channel to the Fast4 tennis might be your thing.

Say What:

Heat batsman Joe Burns who returns from national duty and told the team's website he was pumped to be back in teal.

"I love playing for the Brisbane Heat and I'm excited to get the opportunity again. The boys are still working really hard and I'm sure we can finish the season off strongly."

Final Word:

It's 2-2 on head to head between the Renegades and the Heat and we can expect another close encounter between the two sides.

There are no excuses for the Renegades in this match.

Their batting line-up that has failed to fire as a collective unit so far, but against a Heat side that has only taken 23 wickets in their six matches and conceded two scores of more than 200, tonight could be the night the men in red click.

We think Ben Stokes will continue his impressive form with the bat and guide the home team to a narrow win.
