Dunk belted 229 not out off 157 balls with an incredible 13 sixes as Tasmania finished at 1-398 after their 50 overs at the tiny North Sydney Oval.

The innings was the highest individual score in the 46-years of Australian domestic limited overs cricket with the total eclipsing David Warner's 197 at the same venue last season.

Fellow opener Tim Paine (125) combined with Dunk as the two recorded the highest ever domestic opening wicket partnership (277), passing the 1981 mark of 253 set by NSW pair Rick McCosker and John Dyson, before eclipsing Ricky Ponting and Michael Dighton's 2007 tally of 263 for the largest partnership for any wicket.

Dunk's brought up his ton off 93 balls, with Paine hitting the 100 mark during the same over off 118 deliveries.

It looked as if Queensland competition total record of 4-405 was under threat but the Tasmanians fell just short.
