Australia opened the one-day international triangular series – which will also feature South Africa – with a big win after they smashed 350-6 from their 50 overs in Harare.

Glenn Maxwell (93) and Mitchell Marsh (89) went after the Zimbabwe bowling in the latter stages. Openers Aaron Finch and Brad Haddin had set the platform with 67 and 46 respectively.

Zimbabwe were bowled out for just 152 in response and Bailey was delighted with his side's batting effort: "[I am] very happy with that. I thought the start was outstanding.

"Finchy [Finch] and Hadds [Haddin] took their time and assessed the situation.

"And great innings from Mitch [Marsh] and Maxi [Maxwell] took us to a huge total. And [then] great work from our bowlers too.

"[There's still] plenty of things to improve on. No hundreds – that's something we'd like to get within our group.

"Hopefully we'll come back bigger and better against South Africa on Wednesday."

Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura was downcast after the defeat and admitted that his side's batting was simply not good enough.

The hosts lost their last eight wickets for just 69 runs and must improve drastically if they are to challenge Australia or South Africa in the series.

"[We were] outplayed. Simple as that. We have just to keep working hard. Hopefully it will be a different game next game," he said.

"Unfortunately we keep losing wickets. There's two more games to play so we just have to keep working hard."
