Glenn Maxwell took three wickets for just 13 runs as Pakistan were restricted to a paltry 96-9 on Sunday, despite having won the toss and chosen to bat.

David Warner then raced to an unbeaten 53 from 39 balls as Australia secured a comfortable victory.

Maxwell's right-arm off-breaks claimed the first three Pakistan scalps, with Awais Zia caught by Kane Richardson at mid-off for three before Umar Amin was stumped by Brad Haddin and Sohaib Maqsood clean bowled, with the latter pair both going for ducks.

Debutant Saad Nasim offered some resistance with a solid 25, while Ahmed Shehzad (10), Wahab Riaz (16) and Raza Hasan (13) also made it to double figures, but Pakistan's overall display with the bat was dire.

Cameron Boyce - one of four new T20 caps for Australia together with Richardson, Phil Hughes and Sean Abbott, chipped in with 2-10.

There were also wickets for Mitchell Starc, Richardson, Abbott and James Faulkner as Pakistan laboured towards a modest total.

Warner was in his usual combative manner as he struck four fours and three sixes en route to a rapid half-century that underpinned the reply. Maxwell contributed 17 and Faulkner finished unbeaten on seven not out.

Raza did manage to return 2-17 as captain Aaron Finch went for five and Steven Smith for three, while Shahid Afridi and Wahab also struck, but they were merely consolation moments for the well-beaten losers.

Pakistan will seek to bounce back when they meet Australia in the first of three one-day internationals on Tuesday.
