A young net bowler was struck in the back of head from a full-blooded shot from Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh on Wednesday night.

The Australian players were visibly shaken up by the incident with Marsh, David Warner and Steve O'Keefe rushing to the aid of the injured youngster - who did not suffer any serious injury.

Team doctor Peter Brukner treated the young bowler for a laceration behind his the ear - with the ball appearing to strike the head in a similar place to where Hughes was felled.

Marsh stopped batting after the incident - looking visibly distressed as he sat on the sidelines at training.

Australian team psychologist Michael Lloyd was seen talking to Marsh after training while players made sure to check on the welfare of the youngster after he was treated.
