After making a brilliant 290, New Zealander Ross Taylor said he was "emotionally scarred" after no Australian made the effort to shake his hand as he left the field.
ABC commentator Dirk Nannes had this to say about the Australian conduct:
"waar zijn de toiletten, alsjeblieft?"
Fellow ABC commentator Jim Maxwell said he has no idea what Nannes was talking about as he doesn't speak Dutch, but that he agrees with his sentiments.
Australian captain Steve Smith said he was unaware of the "Handshake" Law and apologised profusely to Taylor when he found out about it.
Smith said he had sent Usman Khawaja down to Officeworks to get photocopies of the law for the whole team.
For clarity, it is Law 44 of cricket that regulates handshakes.
Any player who:
a) makes at least 100; or
b) survives an over of Mitch Starc yorkers
shall be entitled to at least three members of the opposition making the effort to shake their hand when they are dismissed.
The fielding team is not required to participate in a handshake when:
a) the batsman is Kevin Pietersen; or
b) the batsman is Stuart Broad
