Ambrose: Samuels salute just banter

CurtlyAmbrose - Cropped

After Marlon Samuels gave Ben Stokes an unusual send-off on the third day of the second Test, Curtly Ambrose has shrugged off the action as just a bit of banter.

Samuels and Stokes have been engaged in a war of words throughout the clash in Grenada and when the latter was dismissed for eight by Devendra Bishoo late in the third day, the West Indies man gave the batsman a military-style salute.

The send-off attracted much comment on social media, with many seeing the funny side, and Ambrose was quick to shrug off any potential criticism.

"There is nothing wrong with a bit of banter, it is international cricket, but we always tell them to keep it clean and don't go over the top," said the West Indies bowling coach.

"I don't think Marlon meant anything by it and of course he enjoys himself on the field.

"Cricket is hard and you must find a way to relax yourself and have fun."
