After rain delayed the start of the game by some two hours, play finally got under way with the match reduced to eight overs a side.

Hobart skipper George Bailey's decision to field first after winning the toss looked set to backfire badly as Strikers openers Alex Hales (49 off 19 balls) and Michael Klinger (32 not out off 17) catapulted the visitors to 1-87 off just six overs.

Hales (nine fours and one six) and Klinger (five and one) dined out on the Hurricanes' attack, with Evan Gulbis (0-24 off one over) and Xavier Doherty (0-17 off one) copping the full brunt of the Adelaide pair's whirlwind partnership.

But just as it looked like Hobart were destined for an embarrassing defeat, the rain rolled in again to save their blushes and ensure both sides walked away from the match with one competition point each.
