In nine seasons with Western Australia Adam Voges has played 70 Sheffield Shield games and the acting captain says their three-day annihilation of New South Wales was the best of them.
The table-topping Warriors dominated every aspect of the match before wrapping up victory by an innings and 323 runs on Sunday.
They bowled out the Blues for 91 in the first innings and 146 in the second, thanks to some impressive bowling displays from Michael Beer (7-46 in the second innings) and pacemen Nathan Rimmington and Nathan Coulter-Nile, who each had four scalps on the opening day.
But WA's most impressive aspect was their record-breaking display with the bat, with man-of-the-match Liam Davis blasting an unbeaten 303 as WA declared at 3-560.
Davis became just the second WA player - behind former Test batsman Geoff Marsh - to score 300 in an innings, which he largely did in a 379-run stand with Voges (178).
All of that resulted in the Warriors' biggest victory by an innings in the Shield and massively boosted their chances of making the final for the first time since 1998-99, leaving Voges delighted.
"I think in all the time I've played for Western Australia, that was as good a performance as I've seen from the team," the acting captain said.
"The way our guys stepped up in this game was outstanding."
"The way we bowled in the first innings, we hit the right areas and we applied the pressure. And then with the bat we just didn't give them a chance."
The only downside for the Warriors was North's finger injury, which is expected to rule the skipper out for the rest of the campaign.
But Voges said the team was good enough to overcome the former Test batsman's absence and win their first piece of silverware since the 2003-04 One-Day Cup triumph.
WA will finish the round two points clear at the top of the table unless Queensland snatches an unlikely outright win against Tasmania, with the Warriors' final two matches against Victoria and Tasmania.
A huge part of their success this season has been due to Davis, who leads the competition with 826 runs from just six matches after become the 14th person to score a Shield triple century, which the 27-year-old said felt surreal.
"I haven't had a chance to sit down and think about it but it's a pretty special moment," Davis said.
