Stand-in Tasmanian captain Tim Paine has won the toss and elected to bat in the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria at the MCG.
Conditions in Melbourne are overcast and showers, which are forecast to come and go throughout the day, have been intermittent through the morning.
The toss was delayed for 30 minutes because of drizzle and play is scheduled to start at 11.15am local time.
Lloyd Mash will carry the drinks for the Bushrangers and Adam Maher is Tasmania's 12th man.
The visitors will go in with two spinners - Jason Krejza and Xavier Doherty - while the Bushrangers attack is the same that bowled the Vics to an outright win over Western Australia at the WACA last week.
Victoria heads the Shield table on 35 points, three clear of Queensland who can win the right to host the Shield final if they manage to claim outright points over the Warriors in their match starting at the Gabba on Wednesday.
An outright win for the Bushrangers over Tassie will guarantee a home final at the MCG.
