Tigers go Dutch

Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate has signed to play for Tasmania in KFC Twenty20 Big Bash competition.

The 30-year-old has established himself as one of the most effective limited overs players in county cricket with Essex and was also a part of the Netherlands team that beat England at the ICC World Twenty20 last year.

"Ryan has been a big name in the Dutch national side thanks to both his success at Essex and a stunning season in the ICC Intercontinental Cup," Tigers coach Tim Coyle told the state's official website.

"He has become something of a cult figure amongst the Essex supporters with his huge hitting and big personality and I'm sure the Tasmanian Twenty20 fans will enjoy watching him play."

Ten Doeschate's signing completes Tasmania's quota of two overseas players for the Big Bash tournament after they re-signed Pakistan seamer Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan for a second year.

Tasmania's opening game is against Western Australia in Perth on December 30.
