South Australia is slowly but surely building its first-innings total against Queensland in its Sheffield Shield match at Adelaide Oval.
The Redbacks added 78 runs in the second session to be 2-160 at tea with Michael Klinger (56) and Cameron Borgas (23) the unbeaten batsmen.
It's been an important innings for Klinger who had made just 42 runs in his previous five innings in the four-day competition this season.
Cameron Borgas has struck three boundaries in his knock and also has a point to prove in his first Shield match this year.
Scott Walter and Chris Swan are the wicket takers.
South Australia had a defensive mindset after lunch with just 10 runs scored in the opening seven overs of the second session.
But the batsmen grew in confidence and captain Dan Harris, who was dropped on the first ball of the day, slashed a Scott Walter delivery over gully and into the pickets to bring up his half century.
Klinger's knock also began to flourish and in one Chris Simpson over he sent the ball over the mid-wicket rope and then the following delivery advanced down the track for a lofted a boundary on the off side.
But just when the home side was getting on top, Harris surrendered his wicket when he drove a ball straight to Swan at mid-on. It brought an end to a 95-run second-wicket stand.
The dismissal slowed their progress but it didn't stop Klinger bringing up his half century off 144 deliveries.
Borgas hit two leg-side boundaries of Simpson's bowling but was generally watchful while at the crease.
Earlier the Redbacks won the toss and were 1-82 at lunch. Opener James Smith leg glanced a four off his first ball and went on to smash a further four boundaries in the first five overs of the contest.
But his aggression proved his downfall as he drove hard at a Swan delivery and presented a sharp chance to Lee Carseldine in slips.
There was nothing risky from that point, with Harris and Klinger playing watchfully although the occasional loose ball from Daniel Doran relieved some of the pressure.
Earlier, the Redbacks made two changes to its squad with Borgas replacing the hamstrung Mark Cosgrove while Matthew Weeks was named 12th man instead of Allan Wise.
Nathan Rimmington is carrying the drinks for the visitors.
