NSW ask WA to bat

New South Wales have won the toss and will bowl first in their Ryobi One-Day Cup game against Western Australia at the WACA Ground on Wednesday.

Although neither of the bottom two sides can make the final, several players, including WA's Shaun Marsh and Blues pair Brad Haddin and Mitchell Starc will be trying to impress to push their claims for a spot on Australia's tour of the West Indies.

Marsh is the Warriors' captain as Marcus North and Adam Voges are both injured, while all-rounder Tim Armstrong has been named for his WA debut.

Simon Katich returns from a concussion which kept him out of NSW's thrashing in the Bupa Sheffield Shield game, while Starc also comes in after being released from Australia's one-day squad and Chris Tremain was named for his first game.

Test quick Trent Copeland is 12th man for the Blues and Luke Doran dropped out from the initial squad, while Ryan Duffield will carry the drinks for the hosts.

Western Australia: Shaun Marsh (captain), Wes Robinson, Travis Birt, Liam Davis, Craig Simmons, Tim Armstrong, Luke Ronchi, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Michael Beer, Jason Behrendorff, Matt Dixon, Ryan Duffield (12th man).

New South Wales: Brad Haddin, Usman Khawaja, Phil Hughes, Simon Katich, Steven Smith, Nic Maddinson, Ben Rohrer, Stephen O'Keefe (captain), Sean Abbott, Mitchell Starc, Chris Tremain, Trent Copeland (12th man).
