Veteran paceman Zaheer Khan has helped India make an impressive start to their Commonwealth Bank Series match against Sri Lanka at the WACA Ground on Wednesday.
Sri Lanka, who won the toss and chose to bat, were just 3-101 after 25 overs in the second match of the one-day international tri-series.
Khan missed India's heavy loss to Australia in the series opener but impressed in his return to the side with 2-24 off his first seven overs while causing issues with his swing and consistent line in the rematch of the 2011 World Cup final.
Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara steadied the innings after Sri Lanka lost Upul Tharanga for four early, putting on a 62-run partnership before the 'keeper fell for 26.
But Dilshan fell for 48 off 79 in the 25th over when Virat Kohli took an impressive catch off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja (1-12 off four), leaving Dinesh Chandimal (15 off 25) and Mahela Jayawardene (one off one) as the not out batsmen.
Sri Lanka's scoring rate slowed dramatically after the first 15 overs, as they were 1-72 when the bowling power play was taken but lost 1-11 with the field restrictions in place and the flow of runs didn't pick up once they ended.
Spinners Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin (0-7 off three) played a crucial role in bringing the run-rate down, while Vinay Kumar allowed just 19 off five overs in an impressive new ball spell.
Tharanga struggled early with the swing of India's new ball bowlers and eventually it led to his downfall when he tried to advance to a moving Khan delivery but was unconvincing with his shot and edged it to first slip.
Despite the early loss, Jayawardene's team were scoring freely in the early overs and reached 46 after the first 10 thanks largely to the impressive stroke-play of Dilshan.
The run-rate had reached nearly five an over, with Dilshan and Sangakkara bringing up their half-century stand in just 60 balls, but the excellent bowling power play changed the game's momentum.
But India still needed a breakthrough and Khan delivered with a seaming delivery which delivery which Sangakkara edged and wicketkeeper Dhoni took an impressive diving catch.
Dilshan significantly slowed down when India's bowling improved and attempted a rash shot as the pressure built and played it to Kohli at backward point.
