Victoria is closing in on a memorable outright victory in the Sheffield Shield final against Queensland at the MCG after a dominant opening session on the fifth day.
At lunch the Bulls were 4-118 - still a whopping 522 runs shy of their impossible victory target of 640.
Veteran leg-spinner Bryce McGain (2-35) and paceman Darren Pattinson (2-47) have done all the damage as the Bushrangers aim to put an exclamation mark on this contest by avoiding a draw.
Victoria's impregnable position is a fair comeback for a side that was 6-75 in its first innings in the second over after lunch on the opening day.
What it effectively means for the Vics is that they have their 28th Shield title in the bag and second in succession following their win against the Bulls in Melbourne last year.
It also confirms the Bushrangers, who have incredibly made the last nine domestic finals in a row, have all but completed their most successful season in 30 years after they also clinched the Twenty20 Big Bash crown in January.
The last and only time Victoria claimed two titles in one season was back in 1979/80 and it was also the last occasion it clinched back-to-back Shield crowns.
Openers Wade Townsend (19) and Ryan Broad (14) were dismissed in quick succession early in the day by McGain and Pattinson respectively.
And after some resistance in the form a 62-run stand between Lee Carseldine (53 not out) and Chris Lynn (21), the Bulls were dealt another blow when McGain bowled the latter.
Lynn didn't make the most of a close call eight overs prior when he defended a McGain delivery which rolled back and missed off stump by millimetres.
When Chris Simpson came and went for a duck, the visitors were brought to their knees at 4-108.
Carseldine has been the shining light for Queensland, his knock has included four boundaries.
Chris Hartley (two) is the other not-out batsman.
McGain, who bowled unchanged from the Southern Stand End all morning, has been the pick of the bowlers.
His impressive figures have come off 16 overs and have included four maidens.
The 37-year-old has been constantly probing and asking questions of the batsmen and it didn't take long for him to get the breakthrough when he bowled Townsend in the third over of the day.
It was a wicked delivery which pitched outside off and turned viciously from a footmark before cannoning into the opener's stumps.
Broad survived a big appeal for lbw in McGain's next over but the Bulls opener wouldn't be so lucky five balls later when he edged a Pattinson delivery which wicketkeeper Matthew Wade easily accepted.
Pattinson also sent Simpson packing after he had him caught behind by Wade too.
