Bulls demolish Warriors

Bulls demolish Warriors

03/10/2010 06:10:54 AM

Queensland has made short work of the Western Australian tail, taking 4-34 after tea to have the visitors all out for 286 in their first innings at the Gabba.

After dropping four catches throughout the day, the Bulls success was down to the efforts of Luke Feldman (4-79), Chris Swan (3-63) and Chris Hartley, who took six catches behind the stumps.

The Bulls will have more than twenty overs left to bat in the day and are well placed to make a run at an outright victory that will give them a chance of hosting the Shield final against Victoria.

Resuming after tea with the Warriors on 6-252, Feldman was straight back amongst the wickets, claiming the prize-scalp of Luke Pomersbach for a well compiled 74, his edge granting Queensland gloveman Hartley his fifth grab for the innings.

The partnership of Nathan Coulter-Nile and Steve Magoffin looked shaky from the outset, and should have been terminated in Swan's next over, but the Queensland paceman put down a sharp return chance off Coulter-Nile, the Bulls fourth drop for the innings.
Couter-Nile made little of his reprieve, dismissed for five next over edging to Philipson at second slip to give a rampant Feldman his fourth for the innings.

Queensland's plans for a quick end to the Warriors innings were disrupted for a time by some aggressive lower-order batting until man-of-the-moment Feldman got a touch on a straight drive from Magoffin that cannoned into the wickets and left Knowles, who was backing up, short of his ground.

Ben Edmonson was dismissed without scoring soon after, edging behind to give Swan his third wicket for the innings and Hartley his sixth catch, three of which were sharp diving chances.
