Synchronised Swimming
Australian Team Profile
For the first time in synchronised swimming history, Australia has qualified for an Olympic Games outside of Australia in the teams event. In 2000 at the Sydney Games, Australia as host nation debuted in the team event and finished a respectable eighth. In Beijing, nine women will compete for Australia, after clinching first place at the Oceania Olympic qualifying event.
The 2008 team is comprised of fresh new faces, with only two swimmers with previous Games experience, but both with different countries. Myriam Glez will be competing in her second Olympics; she debuted in 2000 for France, while Erika Leal-Ramirez has competed twice for Mexico, in 1996 and 2000. Glez and Leal-Ramirez will also combine to represent Australia in the duet division.
The rest of Australia's team is Eloise Amberger, Coral Bentley, Sarah Bombell, Tamika Domrow, Myriam Glez, Erika Leal-Ramirez, Tarren Otte, Samantha Reid and Bethany Walsh.
