"We have lofty goals for our basketball program," Mack said. "While we are proud of this year's Sweet 16 team and the work we have done so far, our goals go beyond that. Xavier is a special place and the support from the entire Xavier community and my hometown of Cincinnati is overwhelming. As both an alumnus and the head coach, I am excited about the challenges ahead."

Xavier was a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament, defeating Ole Miss and Georgia State before falling to No. 2 Arizona in the Sweet 16.

Mack, 45, began his collegiate coaching career in 1999 as the Xavier director of basketball operations. Beginning in 2004, he spent five seasons as the top assistant under Sean Miller before replacing him as head coach in 2009. Mack has led Xavier to the NCAA Tournament five times in six seasons.
