Williams happy with Nets bench role

Williams played 20 minutes in Brooklyn's 109-107 victory over the Boston Celtics on Friday, which extended the Nets' run of NBA wins to three.

The 30-year-old guard is being eased into action after injuring his right calf against the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 19.

With that in mind, Williams is comfortable watching the majority of the match from the bench.

"I'm all for the team. It doesn't really matter to me," Williams said on Friday.

"I'm still trying to get my rhythm back and obviously I'm on a minutes restriction right now, so I'm all for it."

Williams, who posted eight points, four rebounds and four assists against the Celtics, had his calf wrapped up on the bench.

"Just to heat it up, keep it hot, keep it warm," Williams said. "I felt pretty good considering I haven't done much in the last couple days."

It has been a difficult campaign for Williams, who was linked to the Sacramento Kings after the Nets reportedly sought a trade.

Williams, however, was in no mood to talk about trades with his focus solely set on working his way back to full fitness.

"When a trade is final, then I'll talk to y'all about trade rumours. How about that?" Williams said.

"When a trade happens I'll talk about trade rumours because then it'll actually be a trade."
