VCU basketball player Mo Alie-Cox was charged with misdemeanor assault last month after allegedly punching a woman in the face at a Richmond nightclub on April 3. His case will go to trial June 15, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The accuser said she was in an altercation with another woman who shoved her. She reportedly grabbed the woman’s hair before Alie-Cox punched her.

When she asked Alie-Cox if he punched her on purpose, she said he claimed he didn't do it and to “leave him alone.”

A Richmond police officer did not charge Alie-Cox the night of the incident and instructed the accuser to file a charge at the magistrate’s office.

Alie-Cox did not comment Wednesday.
