Jazz to honour Rod Hundley with black jersey stripe Saturday night

Rod Hundley

The Jazz will wear a commemorative black stripe on their jerseys during Saturday night's game against the Thunder to honour Rod Hundley.

The longtime Jazz broadcaster died Friday night following a battle with Alzheimer's. A moment of silence will precede the 9 p.m. ET tipoff in Salt Lake City.

A video tribute with highlights of his playing and broadcasting career and recollections from many Jazz greats will air throughout Utah's television and radio broadcast.

An All-American at West Virginia, Hundley was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1957 NBA Draft and a two-time All-Star during his six-year career with the Lakers.

He began broadcasting Jazz games in 1974 and was the voice of the franchise until 2009. He called 3,051 Jazz games during his broadcasting career.
