Steph Curry inspired the Golden State Warriors to a 115-80 win over the Houston Rockets as they moved within a win of the NBA Finals.

Curry finished with 40 points, including seven-of-nine from three-point range, as the NBA MVP dominated at the Toyota Center.

The dominant win saw the Warriors move into a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference finals.

As Curry controlled the scoring, Draymond Green (17 points and 13 rebounds) and Andrew Bogut (12 and 12) finished with double-doubles.

Curry also set a new league record on Saturday, breaking the record for most three-pointers in a post-season previously held by Reggie Miller (58).

The Rockets shot at just 33.7 per cent from the field, and they found themselves 30-18 behind after the first quarter.

While Curry was a standout, James Harden struggled.

Harden went three-of-16 from the field in his 17-point haul, while Dwight Howard finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Game four is in Houston again, with the Rockets needing a win on Monday.
