Rose was selected in a 12-man roster for the FIBA World Cup in Spain starting later this month, and the Chicago Bulls point guard impressed with six points and four assists in a 13-minute cameo against Puerto Rico on Friday.

Prior to Rose's confirmation in the World Cup squad, Krzyzewski endorsed Rose - who has suffered two serious knee injuries in the past two NBA seasons.

"I feel very confident about Derrick," Krzyzewski said, according to ESPN.

"I think Derrick feels very confident. Thought he played great tonight. And these guys want to play with him.

"Part of getting back is to be around a group of peers.

"These guys are peers who want [Rose] to be really good... hopefully that will help Derrick as he gets ready to keep participating in this but also for the NBA season.

"I think it is a huge, huge help for him."

Houston Rockets guard Harden said Rose's form in their 112-86 win over the Puerto Ricans at Madison Square Garden was "phenomenal".

"Derrick brings something that we don't have as far as being able to push the ball so fast and get into the paint, and so athletic," Harden said.

"He made a couple cross-court passes for open threes. He looked phenomenal."

Despite the glowing endorsements, Krzyzewski still said managing Rose's output was key heading into the tournament.

Team USA take on Slovenia at the Gran Canaria Arena in Spain on Tuesday, in their final warm-up match before their tournament opener against Finland in Bilbao on August 30.

"We'll determine that. That's going to be one of our big meetings on the plane," Krzyzewski replied, when asked if Rose or Kyrie Irving would start against the Slovenians.

"My feeling is that Kyrie — we've got to see how Derrick reacts to tonight.

"I thought both those guys were really good. And then we played them together too. And this guy (Stephen Curry) played well at point too.

"We have a little bit of depth on that."
