Felipe Reyes broke the record for the most rebounds in Euroleague basketball history on Thursday, but was unable to prevent Real Madrid from losing 90-86 to reigning champions Maccabi Electra.

The 34-year-old forward racked up 11 rebounds in the Top 16 encounter at the Menora Mivtachim Arena to reach a tally of 1,288 and surpass Mirsad Turkcan's mark in another impressive display in which he also scored 20 points.

It was an evening of mixed emotions for Reyes, who also passed the record number of fouls in the competition when he was penalised for the 641st time in the Euroleague, as the Spanish side suffered their first defeat in Group E.

Maccabi now share the same record of four wins and one defeat after coming back from 31-23 down at the end of the first quarter to secure a thrilling victory.

Marquez Haynes and Sofoklis Schortsanitis claimed 17 points apiece, while Schortsanitis also registered eight rebounds as Real's 100 per cent Group E record came to an end.

While Real suffered their first defeat, Crvena Zvezda Telekom got up and running by securing a first victory in the same group at the expense of Alba Berlin.

Boban Marjanovic led the way for the Belgrade outfit as he tallied 17 points in an 86-69 victory over Sasa Obradovic's side, who have now lost three and won two of their five games.

CSKA Moscow moved to the top of Group F after they beat Nizhy Novgorod 103-95 in a dramatic all-Russian encounter and previous leaders Olympiacos suffered a first Top 16 defeat at the hands of Anadolu Efes.

Milos Teodosic and Andrey Vorontsevich helped themselves to 25 and 22 points respectively for CSKA, who needed an extra period to seal their 15th Euroleague win in a row after the two sides were locked at 88-88 at the end of the fourth quarter.

Olympiacos' perfect Top 16 record came to an end in Istanbul, as the Greek side only managed 12 points in a costly third quarter and the hosts ran out 84-70 winners to improve their record to 3-2.

Davis Bertans top scored with 19 points as Laboral Kutxa consigned EA7 Olimpia Milano to a 102-83 defeat in the other Group F game on Thursday to move to 2-3 and the ensure the Italian side are second from bottom with just one victory from five.
